Couture Aware
& Demanding More From Your High Street?
Not so long ago my husband saved his NEXT clothes for best and yet now he is devoted to his Hugo Boss jeans, Paul Smith & Massimo Dutti Shirts and his Prada shoes. Many of these names can be purchased through stores such as Cecil Gee and Choice at a fraction of their RRP so do shop around.
When looking for the perfect outfit for your wedding day there is much more choice and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
Formal or informal? What colour? What style? What fabric?
These are all things to consider.
The suit. If you are going for the formal perhaps a morning suit then hire is best as you are unlikely to wear it again, although if the waistcoat doesn’t fit well and it is not going to be altered by the hire company I would recommend buying one and having it altered or even having it made to fit. There is nothing worse than seeing a groom or best man with a badly fitting waistcoat.
The look at the moment is very Mediterranean with light coloured suits, contrasting shirts with dark tan shoes. A very striking suit would be the solid cream 3 piece suits from www.palzileri.com with matching tie, white shirt and a white rose button hole. This is not recommended if your wife to be is wearing a white dress; it would go well with cream/ivory or coloured gowns. Other formal attire includes the velvet, patterned or satin type frock coats.
Please be very careful with frock coats, if you are short then you will end up looking like a penguin or that you have borrowed a coat from your much taller brother!! The Americans tend to wear bowties and tuxedos which can be very elegant. Be brave and have a look at some of these websites for inspiration. www.hugoboss.co.ukwww.massimodutti.co.uk Simple is better.

Always take someone who has good taste and is honest with you when you go clothes shopping.
My best friend will always tell me if what I hold out on the hanger will make me look like a cheap tramp, even if I don't like it I appreaciate it !!
My husband and I got married in Rome late in the afternoon. He wore a tan Ted Baker Endurance suit, a black fitted Hugo Boss shirt and dark tan shoes from Dune. As he was able to choose what he wanted to wear and it was a bit more casual he said he felt much more relaxed and was able to enjoy the day. He would have loved to treat himself to the Boss suit but he would be wary of putting it on again in case it got marked or damaged!! www.zara.com

Shoes
You are going to be on your feet all day doing the funky chicken or shimmying to Abba so make sure your shoes are comfortable (and clean). It is my motto to always buy good shoes as your feet will know when you have cheated on them!!
This is your day & you want to look your best & be comfortable.
All eyes are on you and your partner so make sure that you are well groomed. This includes clean nails & well shaven down to no labels on the bottom of your new shows (a scourer and some washing up liquid will do the trick). Also try www.russellandbromley.co.uk
My final piece of advice is WEAR SOCKS.
And nice new socks, as when you kneel at the alter (if in a Church) all will see your everyday bobbley socks and it will spoil the look you have worked hard to achieve.
Enjoy your day and send us some pictures, we would love to see them
